The seed for this strain of San Marzano comes exclusively from Johnny’s Select Seeds. It is a high-quality version of this classic heirloom San Marzano paste tomato. It has the standard qualities you would expect – shape, appearance, vibrant red color and characteristic of peeling easily and cooking down quickly. This strain was selected by tomato breeder Emily Rose Haga from seeds from the USDA gene bank, which is designed to preserve genetic diversity and increase food security.
