The Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) released the “Rutgers 250” tomato as an improved version of the classic Rutgers tomato – which is what most people think of as the Jersey tomato. Fruit has good red color, fine flavor; large, globular, slightly flattened fruits . This variety has a firmer skin and acid and sugar balance reminiscent of the original Rutgers tomato. 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 oz tomatoes – Determinate.
